It was a frosty morning...

Tawa had its first real frost yesterday morning.
When I arrived at school the grounds were covered in a shimmering blanket of ice.

In class we talked about what the children had noticed on this cold morning.  Then we rugged up warm and went on a frost hunt.

We found frost in the shady parts of the school..."where has all the rest gone?" I asked,  "It has melted in the sun", said Mitchell.
Back in the warm of our room we brainstormed words and wrote  about what we had seen, felt and heard outside.  Check out some of our writing below.

I was freezing.  I was holding a frozen leaf.

The frozen frost was super cold shivering on my hands.
I drew on the frost.

It was freezing.  My hands got cold, they got sore.  It was a lot of fun.
Then I saw grass and it was icy.

I felt freezing when we touched the ice.

It was so freezing. My hands got too cold when I first came inside.
If I got colder I would turn into a snowman.
Oh bother!

We have decided to make a book of our stories so that we can remember the cold, cold, frosty morning.
Come and see it on our library shelf!
