Let's go swimming!

We are into our third week of our swimming programme.
The children have loved catching the bus to Tawa School and getting stuck into their Easy Swim lessons.
Check out the photos below, we have been learning heaps!
Waiting patiently to get changed

All changed and waiting poolside for our lessons to begin

Listening to our teacher

We are perservering

We have to concentrate

There is always time for a little fun too!

Family Lunch

Thanks to those that could make it to our family lunch on Friday.
The weather wasn't great - but the children loved sharing lunch with you!

Learning Through Play

Here are a few examples of what students are Investigating during our Learning Through Play sessions.
The children love being Focus Children, Photographer or Reporter during these sessions.
Our creative area is particularly popular - you are probably enjoying the completed projects that have come home!

Students as teachers

Today Seth, Tremayne and Olivia shared with the class the text they have been reading.
It is about a class that has a lovely routine at the end of each day - a massage circle.
Olivia took charge to get us all organised and then talk through the massage circle making sure we were doing each part correctly.
Well done!  We had a lot of fun practicing!
We had to dot our fingers - like rain.

We drew a word or a letter for our buddy to guess.

We listened to Olivia for the next instruction.

We all leaned forward to give and receive a hug.

Then we leaned back carefully for a rest!

"What is that...?"

As a writing prompt Mrs O'Leary brought into class some interesting looking things.
We got to touch them and smell them and have a very close look at them.
We wrote a description and then guessed what they could be.
What do you think?

Here is some of our writing:

We are looking and trying to guess what Mrs O'Leary bought to Room 7.  We smelled it.  It smelled like soap. It was fluffy.  I think it is bunny ears.

That thing felt wet and wierd.  Then we had to smell it.  It smelled gross and bad.  I think it is a bat.

This thing is weird.  I think that it is kiwifruit.  It is wet inside and fluffy outside.
Written by Macy

We are looking and smelling to try to guess what the fluffy thing is.  It is fluffy on one side and on the other side it is brown.  Also we don't know what it is.  I guess it is a cat because it has pointy ears.

Here is a clue:
Magnolia trees are beautiful this time of year...

Can you spot them?

Calendar Art

Check out Room 7's fabulous Calendar Art.
This is a great fundraiser for the school and a lovely keepsake.
Thank you Mrs Monty for inspiring the children and working with them to complete their artworks.
The order forms will come home soon.
