Book week comes to an end

We have had a fabulous time celebrating book week! There have been a lot of special activities on in the library, amazing classroom door decorations, a visit from author Ruth Paul, and in Room 7 a big focus on the children's book 'Harold and the purple crayon'.
It was great to end the week with dress-up as a book character day, what an effort everyone made. Whole school assembly was a feast for the eyes and a reminder of all those fabulous books and characters out there.
Grandma McGarvey also made a visit to room 7, she fooled some of the children... and parents (what a difference a wig makes!) Check out our fabulous costumes!

Book week - let books open doors for you!

Book Week is an exciting time at Redwood School, we have re-themed the library and decorated it in style, keeping things interesting, fresh and engaging for our students.
This week we have lots of special things planned and there will be lunchtime activities each day in the library.
Our visiting author, Ruth Paul is in school today. She is a Wellington based writer and illustrator and will be doing presentations for all syndicates.
On Wednesday we invite whanau to join us in our classrooms at 12 noon to enjoy reading together. We welcome families to visit the library, lucky dip a book to read and contribute to our “Round the World at Redwood School” display map. We would love to add any photo’s or interesting items your family has to give this area a personal touch.
On Friday as is our tradition we will end book week with a dress up day with the theme DRESS AS A BOOK CHARACTER! We encourage you to make use of items already in your home and use your imagination. It is not expected that you purchase new items for this, just have a bit of fun.
Thanks to all the students, teachers and parents who have contributed and will be working hard to promote the Library this week.
Jan Loader, Rachel Gargan and the Library Team.

Let's work together!

Today in discovery time we had to work together to complete a picture depicting all of the important characters and settings in the fairy tale, 'The three little pigs'.
We had to discuss and decide who was drawing which part...we couldn't have four pigs and three brick houses!
Working together in groups of 4 on one piece of paper was quite tricky for some of us.
In the end each group had a complete picture, great teamwork Room 7!

100 days of school update

Day 57

Our paper chain at day 57, 10 children can hold the paper chain.

Our paper chain is not quite long enough to reach from the goal post to the top of the netball circle.
